This beach lies ion the south coast of Gianyar (about six kilometers from the heart of Gianyar city). Very popular with the locals and famous as an ideal surf-casting spot, it still manages to remain virtually free from tourism. Come and see the beautiful black sand, hear the pounding waves and taste the tasty seafood served along the shore.

During the ngaben (cremation) season the beach becomes particularly crowded as villagers come to spread the ashes of the deceased at sea. As the main destination during the melasti ceremony, the Balinese flock here in droves to pray and purify themselves on the beach side.

Visitors can also enjoy the row of thousands of traditional boats moored along the beach, the scene being especially attractive in the morning. The row of the unique boats on the black sands is very beautiful when seen from a distance.
